We get it. Sometimes one can only eat catfish and fries so many times during the Lenten season. Because of the plethora of seafood options in Baton Rouge, it isn’t much of a sacrifice for Christians who observe Lent to abstain from eating meat on Fridays. 

These 12 Baton Rouge restaurants have created special Lenten menus for customers to enjoy.

Spoke and Hub

5412 Government St.

Spoke and Hub is dishing out crawfish queso, shrimp Parmesan pasta and catfish Acadiana through Friday, March 29.

Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine

2323 S. Acadian Thruway

The Lenten dinner special at Mestizo’s is two lobster enchiladas topped with mole verde, pomegranate seeds and a guacamole blue corn tostada. SoLou

7246 Perkins Road

There’s a special 3-course menu on Fridays during Lent at SoLou. The menu includes crawfish cakes, shrimp scampi, oysters and brie bisque, crabmeat quesadillas, a lobster sandwich, tuna tacos and more. 

Modesto

3930 Burbank Drive

Modesto has several Lent specials on the menu: oysters and rubies, a blackened gulf mahi taco, crispy oyster taco, crispy crawfish taco, soft shell crab taco, flounder ceviche and soft shell crab or crispy oyster Mexican po-boy. 

Anthony’s Italian Deli

5575 Government St.

Order a plate of shrimp and pesto lasagna every Friday at Anthony’s or take and bake a tray at home. 

Proverbial Wine Bistro 

9659 Antioch Road

The Lenten features at Proverbial include crab en croute, shrimp and cabbage salad, scallops, pecan crusted gulf fish and crab cake angel hair pasta. 

Eliza Restaurant

7970 Jefferson Highway

Eliza is offering a 3-course Lenten menu for $55, or $85 with wine pairings for each course. The menu features blue crab dip, fried calamari, crawfish gnocchi, gulf fish pecan and olive oil cake — available through Saturday, March 30.

City Pork 

7327 Jefferson Highway

On each Friday through March 31, the menu at City Pork will feature red bean hummus, shrimp and crab crepes, sesame-crusted ahi tuna and shrimp burro e parmigiano.

Superior Grill Mid City

5435 Government St.

Enjoy seafood chimichangas, crabcake enchiladas, grilled shrimp lettuce-wrapped tacos, a black bean veggie burrito bowl and more options at Superior Grill during Lent. 

Jed’s Local

672 Jefferson Highway

Jed’s will be dishing out $11 seafood boxes during lunch with a choice of shrimp, catfish (or both), french fries and house-made tartar sauce. Plus, the restaurant will offer a 3-course Lenten menu for $40, or $65 with wine pairings. The menu starts with a crawfish cake with corn maque choux, a seafood stuffed shells entrée and Louisiana strawberry shortcake for dessert — available through Saturday, March 30.

Supper Club

While the restaurant is known for its steaks, Supper Club also features caviar, bluefin tuna poke, shrimp cocktail, Chilean seabags, truffled lobster gnocchi, scallops and more. 

Zee Zee’s 

2943 Perkins Road

Customers can enjoy calamari, a fried crawfish Caesar salad, shrimp gyros, shrimp and crawfish pasta and crab and corn bisque every Friday during Lent at Zee Zee’s.
