Spotlight Theatre Players continues its run of “The Sweet Delilah Swim Club” at 7 p.m. Thursday-Friday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at Wholly Ground Coffee House, 27988 Walker South Road, Walker.
This Denham Springs community theater production is directed by Christine Norred-Brignac and stars Helene Wall, Jodie Guitrau, Valerie Brubaker, Celeste Angelle Veillon and Susan Burdette.
The story, written by Jesse Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, follows Southern women who begin a friendship on their college swim team. They make a pact to get together one weekend in August every year to catch up on their lives, and they keep that promise for the next 50 years by meeting at the same oceanfront beach cottage, the “Sweet Delilah,” on North Carolina’s line of islands called the Outer Banks.
The audience is treated to four of these reunions, the first being 22 years after graduation. The second follows five years later, and the third five years after that.
Then comes the final visit to the cottage before it’s to be demolished.
In between, audiences learn about how life has panned out for these women, all of whom have very different personalities.
Tickets are $25 by visiting stpds.com.
