BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Holi Festival is returning to Baton Rouge on Saturday, Mar. 9. The free event is scheduled to take place from 2 -5 p.m. at Repentance Park.

Organizers said there will be “music from DJ Volcanik, Traditional and Bollywood dance performances, henna art, face painting and lots of head-to-toe color.” Celebrations include throwing packs of color powder at each other while dancing and playing.

Manisha Patel, president of Colors of the World Inc., is the organizer of the event. She said people will be able to buy color packets, food and drinks at the festival.

This is the fourth annual Holi event that the nonprofit has hosted in Baton Rouge. The Indian holiday is also known as the “festival of colors” or “festival of love.” According to a news release from Colors of the World, more than $20,000 in proceeds have been donated to the community.

“It has been awesome to see the turnouts and the community’s support in celebrating the Indian
culture with the Holi Festival; we are excited to host this event,” said Patel. “With the help of our community, local sponsors, and volunteers, we are thrilled to present such a fun and exciting event that celebrates cultural diversity.”

Tickets will cost $1 each. They can be used for color packets, drinks, water and beer.
