74-year-old man trying to cross road hit and killed in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A 74-year-old pedestrian died after being struck in the 2600 block of Harding Boulevard on Tuesday night. BRPD confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

The Baton Rouge Police Department and EMS responded to the crash, which happened around 8 p.m. “The driver of a 2010 Mazda CX9 struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The coroner’s office was summoned and confirmed that the cause of death was trauma due to a motor vehicle hitting the person. The manner of death was an accident.

The identity of the person killed will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
