76-year-old St. Amant man dies in hospital after car crash

ST. AMANT, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 431 in Ascension Parish Tuesday morning.

According to LSP, a pickup truck was turning left from a private driveway onto Highway 431 when another car headed eastbound on Highway 431 hit the truck on the driver’s side. Both vehicles entered a ditch.

State Police said Steven Delaune, 76, of St. Amant was the driver of the truck.

Authorities said Delaune was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the other car involved in the crash was also wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to a hospital for injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
