Arrest made in fatal shooting on Shelly Street, Baton Rouge police report

Police have made an arrest in one of two fatal shootings in Baton Rouge on Feb. 8.

Homicide detectives arrested Marvin Liggins, 18, for the shooting death of 18-year-old Tyre Everson, who died around noon at the scene in the 3700 block of Shelley Street, police said. 

Liggins was being booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, police said.

In a second shooting on Feb. 8, Tedrick Owens, 23, died about 3:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of 75th Street. A second person was injured and taken to the hospital, police said.
