Ascension Schools’ new superintendent set to earn $200K a year

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Ascension Parish School District’s new superintendent gains almost $200,000 in the first year of a three-year contract, according to the Ascension Parish School Board meeting on Tuesday evening.

Edith Walker is set to earn $190,000 as a base salary and an additional 5% for her doctorate degree in education.

Walker’s contract begins July 1, 2023. The contract also includes a $50,000 life insurance policy, health insurance coverage and retirement plan.

Ascension Parish School District serves more than 23,000 students at 31 schools, making it one of the largest school systems in the state, according to Niche.
