Baton Rouge families can sign up for Salvation Army Christmas program in September, October

Local leaders, law enforcement help to supply toys for kids

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Families who want to be a part of the Salvation Army‘s Angel Tree program can sign up starting in late September.

The program gives toys and clothing to Baton Rouge kids 12 years old and younger. The Salvation Army said 900 children got Christmas gifts last year.

The dates to register this year are 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 25-29 and noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 2-6. Those who register need to provide a parent’s photo ID, proof of current address, proof of all household income, birth certificate for each child, clothing and shoe sizes and toy suggestions.

A children’s program teaching performing arts skills like piano, dance and drama returns this year. The School For The Performing Arts program welcomes kids in grades 1-12 and runs alongside the EBR Schools schedule. The program is 4-7 p.m. Mondays.

Registration for the program will be available at Angel Tree registration days.

The Baton Rouge Salvation Army is located at 4015 W. Brookstown Drive.
