Baton Rouge Head Start employee accused of hitting 3-year-old child

Freeman/Matthews Head Start, at 1383 Napoleon Street, one of all East Baton Rouge Parish Head Starts closed Thursday, August 19, 2021 due to COVID-19 cleaning concerns. Just before 10 a.m., Thursday, East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome’s office sent out the following email: ‘Out of an abundance of caution and in the best interest of children, families and staff, all Head Start Centers will close immediately for facilities maintenance and repair work to air conditioning and ventilation systems. Our Head Start Program will keep parents informed in a timely manner regarding reopening dates.’
