BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Five thousand people rolled up to the BREC state fairgrounds for the 8th annual “Touch a Truck” family event ready to see all the different sizes, colors and sounds.

“Being in our eighth year is incredible because it means eight years of innovative impact for the community,” said Jessica O’Connor, Junior League Baton Rouge president.

The event offered quiet hours for those who have sensitive hearing.

“This is when we have a little bit last light sound for those that may be a little sensitive to noise, other things. We want to make sure that this is a full community coming out to enjoy today,” O’Connor said.

Their mission is to raise funds for women’s leadership programs to help impact the community. Attendees paid a $10 dollar ticket at the door to potentially win one special ticket to visit a place where dreams come true.

“I’ve got some Mickey ears on today because in year eight we came up with something new and that is our $5,000 Disney raffle that we’re going to be drawing this afternoon,” O’Connor said.

Dreams really do come true, especially for those in need. O’Connor said one in three families is in need of diapers. The event offered a diaper bank working with the community outreach programs to make sure that no child suffers.
