BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A report showed the highest and lowest paid police officers by each state in the United States. The report also looked at the salaries of police officers in almost 400 cities.

According to USA Facts, to find the data, they analyzed police officer salaries adjusted for cost of living, detailed maps and salary comparisons to other public-service professionals.

Louisiana was listed as one of the states where police officers get paid the least. The average police officer salary in the state is $44,620. Louisiana ranks as the No. 48 overall state out of the 50 U.S. states, based on the average salary.

The cost of living was also calculated to find the adjusted annual median wage. Louisiana’s adjusted annual median wage for police officers was $48,885, according to a report from USA Facts.

The cost-of-living adjusted annual median wage in Baton Rouge was $47,881.
