Dense fog advisory in effect in New Orleans metro area, Baton Rouge, Lafayette

A dense fog advisory is in effect Monday morning for much of southeast Louisiana, including the New Orleans metro area, the northshore, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.  

Patches of dense fog could reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less on land and to a mile or less over water, according to the National Weather Service of New Orleans. Forecasters encouraged residents to use caution on roadways and plan for a slower than usual morning commute. 

The advisory expires at 9 a.m.

Patches of dense fog can rapidly reduce visibility on the road. If you’re driving through fog, take it slow and use your low beams.
