Drugs, gun and more seized in Baton Rouge; 1 arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Jarvis Mason was arrested after an investigation involving the Baton Rouge Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. Mason was taken into custody in the 9500 block of Avis Avenue. Drugs and more were seized by law enforcement.

The items that were seized included those listed below:

  • 829.4 grams of marijuana (1.8 lbs.)
  • 66.2 grams of powder cocaine (2.3 oz.)
  • yellow digital scale
  • box of clear baggies
  • blue plastic rifle auto sear used to convert to a machine gun
  • undisclosed amount of cash
  • a Glock 9mm firearm equipped with a Glock “switch”

Mason was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Thursday, May 11 and charged with these crimes:

  • handling of machine guns unlawful; exceptions – 2 counts
  • illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities
  • warrant/Bench Warrant
  • illegal carrying of weapons with CDS
  • distribution or possession with intent to distribute narcotic drugs listed in Schedule I
  • resisting an officer
  • possession of schedule II
  • possession of drug paraphernalia

Mason remains behind bars on $62,000 bond.
