BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish is endorsing two of the four Republican candidates aiming to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Tim Kelly.
According to a Sunday news release from Parish Republican Chairman Woody Jenkins, local attorneys Johanna Landreneau and Jordan Faircloth have been endorsed in the special election for District Judge, which will take place on March 25.
Landreneau is a Baton Rouge native with three decades of experience as an attorney. She is a partner at Landreneau & Associates, LLC, and is known for representing clients in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters that include construction, commercial, insurance defense, labor and employment law, general business, estate planning, and successions.
Faircloth has practiced law in Baton Rouge for nearly 15 years. As a conservative Republican and former LSU baseball pitcher, he was reportedly the first to qualify for the March 25 special election for 19th Judicial District Court Judge, Division F.
He is an attorney with Taylor, Wellons, Politz & Duhe and remains active with the Baton Rouge Bar Association, currently serving his fourth term as a Director-at-Large.
Jenkins issued a statement on the party’s two choices, saying, “We are blessed with some outstanding candidates in this election and the party has interviewed them extensively, covering the most important issues likely come before them in the next few years.”
Early voting for District Judge began Saturday, March 11 and the district includes the southern half of East Baton Rouge Parish.
