BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Approximately 95,000 homes and businesses across the capital area rely on Entergy Louisiana to stay cool during the summer.

As the steamy months of June and July draw closer, the electric services company encourages customers to conserve energy while avoiding the potential dangers of extreme temperatures.

Their approach is hands-on. Instead of simply taking to social media to dole out tips on conserving energy, the company is going door-to-door in residential areas to help customers who need assistance.

According to a May 25 news release, Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans are partnering with local community organizations to canvas neighborhoods in certain areas and weatherproof all area homes that need it.

The company also spearheads fan distribution across Louisiana and helps financially insecure older adults and customers with disabilities pay their bills via its The Power to Care program.

When local events take place that involve the distribution of free food or school supplies, you also might see Entergy employees among the volunteers, assisting with the work.

All of these summer activities fall under the umbrella of an Entergy initiative called “Beat the Heat.”
