FIFA soccer match between Honduras, Barbados in Baton Rouge canceled

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The FIFA-sanctioned soccer match between the national teams of Honduras and Barbados that was to take place in Baton Rouge has been canceled.

Officials made the announcement Sunday morning. Details about the reason as to why the match was canceled were not immediately available.

The historic match was supposed to take place at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 18 at BREC’s Olympia Stadium in Perkins Road Community Park. East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome was supposed to do the coin toss.

Officials announced that Baton Rouge was the location for the FIFA-sanctioned game on June 16.
