Fire crews work to contain wildfire in Denham Springs

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — A wildfire has started burning in Livingston Parish on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, multiple fire agencies were called to a wildfire near Arnold Road and Myers Road around 3:30 p.m.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area to reduce traffic.

The statewide burn ban that was issued by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal is still in effect.

Governor John Bel Edwards asks that citizens follow the burn ban as multiple parts of the state are still “abnormally dry” with regions facing a drought. These dry conditions make the danger of wildfire extremely high.
