Handprint leads to the arrest of 24-year-old man for armed robbery at ATM

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — A 24-year-old man was arrested for armed robbery at a local ATM on July 18.

Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1300 block of O’Neal Lane regarding an armed robbery at a Chase ATM.

According to the arrest documents, 24-year-old Darain Moore approached the vehicle of the victim, pointing a black semi-automatic pistol towards her and demanded that she put her card inside of the ATM. The victim told Moore that she did not have a card. He responded, “then why are you here? Put the card in!”

The victim said she took $70 from her purse to give Moore so he would go away but he kept demanding that she put her card in the ATM.

The ATM ejected approximately $600, Moore grabbed the cash, and fled the scene.

During the investigation, authorities noticed a ‘fresh’ handprint on the windshield, above the inspection sticker. After running samples of the handprint, authorities was able to identify Moore as the suspect.

Moore was arrested for armed robbery on Monday.
