BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Prior to its 2024 opening, Amazon’s capital area fulfillment center invited some to pop in for an April 4 Hard Hat Tour. The visit was a chance for local media representatives to take a look around and get an update on the facility’s progress.
The site uses the latest technology in robotics to fulfill orders. Workers leverage this tech every day to carry out their jobs to the best of their abilities.
The new location is a source of excitement for many locals. One reason is Amazon’s wide range of job opportunities, many of which come with numerous benefits.
One employee, Divina Mims, said she’s proud to be a part of Amazon’s ever-growing team.
“We also have sites coming in Shreveport,” Mims said. “And so, offering those employment opportunities to this community is strong for us.”
“We’re really excited to be a part of the Baton Rouge community. This particular site, BTR One will provide more than 1,000 jobs. We also offer dental, health care, vision benefits all on day one, ” Mims said.
According to the Amazon Distribution Center leadership, the facility is scheduled to open in mid-2024.
