Letters: More facts about wild hogs

La. high on feral hog numbers list

I read with interest the article “Wild hogs commit $90M in damage to La. crops” in the Feb. 18 edition of the newspaper.

The article is well-written and accurate and covers the issue very well. However, I would like to add some facts that were not addressed in the article.

As a regular user of the state’s many wildlife management areas, I frequently see firsthand the damage caused by feral hogs in these areas. I believe that changes to the current Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries regulation of these areas could help in controlling the damage to wildlife occurring on the thousands of acres that LDWF manages.
