BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Denham Springs teen is dead after a 3-vehicle wreck in Livingston Parish that happened around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 12.
According to a news release from the Louisiana State Police, Caleb Easterling, 19, died after a three-vehicle collision on Louisiana 64 near Louisiana 1019.
LSP said a 1998 Dodge Dakota driven by William Cokes, 49, of Baton Rouge, was driving east on Louisiana 64 while Easterling was driving west on the same highway in a 2009 Ford F-150.
The reason Cokes crossed the center line and hit Easterling’s truck head-on is still under investigation. A 2015 Dodge Charger that was traveling west also rear-ended the teen’s truck.
Easterling was not restrained. The wreck left him with severe injuries, and he was airlifted to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.
The other drivers were wearing seat belts and had moderate injuries.
LSP said the crash is still being investigated, and the results will be sent to the district attorney’s office.
