
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — As some people consider Memorial Day as the start of the summer, others recognize it as a day to honor and celebrate United States soldiers who have fought for our country.
Some local residents decide to celebrate by traveling to visit other family members, pulling out their BBQ grills and enjoying the company of others, volunteering in local communities, or even attending ceremonies for military soldiers.
This Memorial Day weekend, Baton Rouge will have a few events for you and your family to enjoy leading up to Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 29.

Live After Five music concert

Saturday, May 27
Memorial Day Ceremony and Garden of Flags
What: A local organization presents flags for fallen soldiers.
Who: Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana and For Our Fallen
Where: State Capitol Gardens
When: 9 a.m.
Local Pop-Up Shop
What: A local pop-up shop with vendors, artists, and food trucks
Who: The Local Pop Up
Where: Electric Depot, 1509 Government Street
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Groovin’ on the Grass immediately follows
Groovin’ on the Grass Music Festival
What: Music festival with live music, food, and drinks to celebrate Memorial Day.
Where: Red Stick Social, 1503 Government Street
When: Doors open at 11 a.m., music begins at 1:30 p.m.

Baton Rouge Concert Band Memorial Day Concert
What: The Baton Rouge Concert band is set to perform patriotic selections in honor of our soldiers
