First pitch for LSU baseball’s showdown against Texas on Friday at Minute Maid Park has been moved to 8:05 p.m.

The game was originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The start time was moved back after Texas State’s matchup against Houston on Friday morning lasted 10 innings, three hours and 31 minutes long. The Bobcats prevailed with the 8-7 victory.

LSU vs. Texas is the third game of the day at the 2024 Astros Foundation College Classic. Vanderbilt defeated UL in the second game of the day, 7-4.

Starting on the mount for LSU is right-hander Luke Holman. Holman has dominated for the Tigers in two starts this season, allowing no runs in 12⅓ innings.

Right-hander Lebarron Johnson will toe the mound for Texas. The junior has just a 1.38 ERA in 13 innings this season, recording 14 strikeouts in the process.

LSU enters Friday’s matchup having won its last three games over Northern Illinois, Stony Brook and Rice. Its most recent victory was over Rice at Reckling Park in Houston on Wednesday.

Texas defeated St. John’s on Tuesday after sweeping Cal Poly in a three game series last weekend.
