BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In their purple and gold gear, fans arrived at a local restaurant to cheer on the Lady Tigers during their sweet sixteen game against the Utah Utes.

Even though fans couldn’t attend the game in South Carolina, supporters still made it a mission to show love in Baton Rouge.

“I’ve been to every game. The girls, the work they put in, you can see it. To bring a team in together with all the transfers that LSU got, it’s amazing to see how they come together as a team,” said a fan of the LSU tigers, Shawn Ruiz.

Ruiz will continue his support, and he will be attending the Elite 8 game in Dallas.

After a close game, local residents, Anton Levandsky and Sarah Adler, want to spread a message to the lady girl tigers and showcase their support as their journey continues.

“Eat them up Tigers, ” said Adler.

“Perseverance, keep fighting, it’s not over until it’s over,” added Levandsky.

Levandsky mentioned he just moved to the area and has been excited to witness the community support towards the LSU teams.

“I’ve just been really excited to watch all the sports play and the women’s basketball team, it’s just been excited to jump into the community. The environment and the excitement that everyone has and the support for the sports, especially the Lady Tigers has been phenomenal,” he said.

Adler added that her continued support will keep on going, especially as a woman herself.

Jason Lopez, general manager at the Burbank Walk On’s restaurant, said the business always makes it a mission to show support towards the LSU teams, especially the Lady Tigers and their success.

“They have been so big all year. Honestly, the fan following for them has been great. Every home game we have been packed. The fans have stayed true and cheered them on. Coach Kim and the ladies have been in multiple times and enjoyed lunch and dinner with us. We love to support them and be part of the LSU family,” said Lopez.

LSU will now face the University of Miami Sunday, March 26 in the Elite Eight.
