WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRPROUD) – During Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome’s visit to Washington on Friday for the annual conference of African American Mayors Association, Broome met with President Joe Biden.
Baton Rouge received a $125,000 Nutrition Access affordability and education grant from the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America.
The three-year grant is designed to help increase access and education about nutritional food.
During Broome’s visit to the nation’s capital city, she met with President Biden about issues facing Baton Rouge and thanked him for the money that his administration gave to the city.
Biden’s funding has made an impact on local government, according to Broome.
“We have certainly used ARPA dollars and maximized them, whether it’s been community development projects or water management projects and public safety across the board, we’ve been able to touch our community with ARPA dollars. And in addition, we’re looking forward to utilizing dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Act,” Broome said.
