BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge community is invited to come and celebrate the grand opening of Mid City Tower on Wednesday, July 12.

Mid City Tower was recently purchased by Mike Leggett in 2020 in a sheriff’s sale. The 80,000-square-foot office building was just renovated and is open for retail spaces to lease.

The building was built in the 1960s and is a landmark for Baton Rouge and Mid City.

“Bob Dean purchased the building in 1997 and held it for many years. Mid City Tower LLC purchased the building from Dean in 2013 while the building was only partially occupied,” said Fabian Edwards, Office Specialist with Elifin Realty. “That owner had plans to fully renovate the property, but those plans never came to fruition. Mid City Tower LLC filed for bankruptcy in 2016 and in 2019 the building was seized.”

Edwards said the property had a great deal of potential and historical significance for the local community but never had ownership willing to restore the building and help it reach its potential.

“The Tower will drive many businesses to the Mid City area and help strengthen the local area’s economy,” Edwards said. “Over the past few years, Mid City has seen a notable resurgence and Mid City Tower will serve to continue that positive economic trend. Elifin is proud to bring this historic building back to market and we look forward to the building’s public unveiling.”

The building’s grand opening will be at 4 p.m. Doors will open to the public around 5 pm. Food and drinks will be served.

Mid City Tower is located at 5700 Florida Blvd.
