After renewing the search for an escaped Mississippi inmate near the Pointe Coupee and Iberville Parish border, the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office suspended the search for a second time, the Sheriff’s Office said in an update Sunday evening.

Ryan Young led deputies on a vehicle pursuit.

In a Facebook post Saturday night, the Sheriff’s Office warned residents of an escaped inmate, Ryan Young, who led deputies on a vehicle pursuit then ran from the vehicle. Deputies searched the area of US 190 westbound near River Station Road, the post said.

The search was suspended early Sunday morning after Young was believed to no longer be in the area. On Sunday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office said it was searching near an unoccupied residence on Valverda Road after receiving calls of a possible sighting, but called the search off again Sunday evening.

Anyone who has information on Young or sees him in the area is urged to call 911.
