WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – The Walker Police Department says two Denham Springs men were arrested after being caught with drugs at a motel Thursday.

According to the police, an officer patrolling the parking lot of a Walker motel smelled marijuana and saw smoke coming from a vehicle. While questioning the two men, Landen Rogers, 21, and Kane Cassels, 22, police said the officer saw one of them throw something under the vehicle.

As the officer detained both men, a bag of oxycodone was found, according to a news release.

More oxycodone was allegedly on one of the suspects, in the motel room and in the car. Officers also found about 329 grams of marijuana, two handguns, a digital scale, drug packaging materials and over $18,000 cash in the vehicle.

In total, police seized 348 oxycodone pills. Police said that the street value is worth $11,000.

Police charged both men with possession with intent to distribute Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of firearms while engaged in controlled dangerous substance-related crimes, and probation or parole violations.

“The drug problem in our Country is serious and the people involved in the sale and distribution of these types of narcotics have no regard for the families being devastated by their illegal actions,” said Walker Police Chief David Addison. “We want these criminals to know that when they are caught engaged in this type of activity in Walker, we are going to put them in jail, seize their dope, their money, their cars and every other asset that the law will allow, and we’re going to spend whatever time, and undertake whatever efforts are necessary, to see to it that these criminals are punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
