Police: Man shot, killed after trying to break into ex-girlfriend’s apartment

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – An Ascension Parish man was shot and killed after trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.

The Gonzales Police Department said Joshua Jones, 35, of Donaldsonville was shot several times at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 in the 1600 block of S. Lanoux Avenue. He later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Officers responded after learning that someone may be trying to get into an apartment bedroom by breaking a window. Police said the ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend was inside the apartment.

An investigation is ongoing.
