Railroad crossing closure coming to West Baton Rouge Parish

BRUSLY, La. (BRPROUD) – A railroad crossing in West Baton Rouge Parish is scheduled to be closed for 12 hours in the near future.

One week from now, Union Pacific is “closing the railroad crossing at W St. Francis and LA Hwy 1 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.,” according to the Brusly Police Department.

During that time on Thursday, August 11, work will be done on a new multi-use trail.

The plan is to complete the trail “from Alexander Park to the new St. James Park on the River Rd.,” according to the Town of Brusly.

The Town of Brusly says, “It includes a path over the railroad track.”

In November of last year, we learned what will be included in the new St. James Park.
