Southern University presents Emmett Till Opera

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Emmett Till Opera will be performed by Opera Southern and Southern University on Tuesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. on both nights. Three acts will be performed at the Manship Theatre, located at 100 Lafayette Street in downtown.

Music and words were written by Southern University professor Charles Lloyd, who said that he was asked to do this opera. He said they have added an additional act that was not part of the play that was performed several years ago.

Professor Richard Hobson is the opera’s director. He encourages the public to come out and see the play, which includes new scenes.
