BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Baton Rouge man is behind bars after an investigation into the theft of a vehicle on Memorial Day.
Andrew Davis, 19, of Baton Rouge is one of six people accused of taking part in an armed robbery around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 29. The armed robbery happened at the intersection of Skysail Avenue and Port Drive, according to the affidavit.
A member of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office spoke with the person whose vehicle was allegedly taken on Monday afternoon. The victim stated that he was held at gunpoint by six males. The victim handed over his cell phone and wallet before he was punched and kicked, deputies said.
The investigator was told by the victim that all of the suspects had guns and none of them were wearing masks. As the investigation unfolded, four suspects were taken into custody. The victim identified those four individuals as participants in the armed robbery.
Three of the four suspects were juveniles. They were charged custodial agreements and processed via the AFIS machine, according to the affidavit. Deputies said the juvenile detention center could not take in the suspects since the facility was at capacity.
Davis was the fourth suspect and he admitted that he was present for a robbery and confessed to kicking the victim. Davis claimed that the victim owed money to one of the men.
Davis was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Tuesday, May 30, and charged with armed robbery. A bond has not been set for Davis.
