Texas man accused of rape at Baton Rouge hotel in 2021 arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Texas man was taken into custody and charged with third-degree rape after an incident in October of 2021.

Lee Poullard, 38, of Spring, Texas, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Saturday, April 22.

Around 2:45 a.m., on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, the Baton Rouge Police Department initiated an investigation into an alleged sexual assault. Officers spoke with the victim at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital who said she went to a bar with Poullard and drank multiple alcoholic beverages before waking up naked in his hotel room, according to the affidavit.

The victim stated that she had no recollection of how she ended up in the hotel room or what happened before she woke up.

A member of the Baton Rouge Police Department questioned Poullard on November 2, 2021. During the interview, Poullard revealed that he was with the victim on the night of the alleged incident. The Texas man stated that the victim asked to come to his hotel room and he had no sexual contact with her whatsoever, according to the affidavit. DNA was collected from Poullard and submitted to the LSP Crime Lab for analysis.

The Texas man remains behind bars and no bond has been set in this case.
