Thursday Night: More storms on Friday; Pop-up storms over the weekend

Tonight: Partly cloudy and humid overnight. Lows in the 70s.

Friday: Rain coverage may increase a bit on Friday. Expect numerous showers and storms mainly during the afternoon and early evening, but some rain may begin to develop as early as mid-morning. Locally heavy rain could lead to nuisance-type flooding. Gusty wind and lightning will be a potential threat, too. Otherwise, partly cloudy with highs in the low and mid 90s.

Weekend: Typical summertime pop-up showers and storms with highs in the low and mid 90s. Heat indices will be in the 100s. Rain coverage will likely be a touch lower on Sunday.

Next Week: Daily scattered storms with highs in the mid 90s for the first week of August. Monday’s rain coverage may come up a touch.

Tracking the Tropics: No tropical development expected during the next 5 days. Even beyond the next 5 days, the tropics look rather quiet. Climatologically speaking, the tropics begin to really heat up in August, leading up to the peak of hurricane season in September.
