BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Youth Health Expo will be held Saturday, March 11 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Louisiana Leadership Institute (5763 Hooper Road).

Institute leaders are teaming up with the Louisiana Department of Health for the event.

Dr. Glennis Gray, deputy assistant secretary at LDH, said, “Mentors will be available for youth ages 6-18, but the event is for the entire family. There will be health screenings, vaccinations, break-out sessions, food, music, door prizes, and even some of the Saints players.”

Organizers said the event is needed because only 5.0% of U.S. doctors are Black, and experts warn that the shortage harms public health.
