DESTIN, Fla. — LSU distance runner Jackson Martingayle will be recognized here Thursday night as the SEC’s H. Boyd McWhorter male scholar-athlete of the year during the spring meeting’s annual awards banquet.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Martingayle is a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has a 4.08 GPA in natural resource ecology and management.
Martingayle will receive a $20,000 post-graduate scholarship. He is the second straight LSU track and field athlete to get the award, following pole vaulter Lisa Gunnarsson in 2022.
Georgia swimmer Callie Dickinson is this year’s McWhorter female scholar-athlete of the year.
