Southern snaps losing streak, beats Grambling State, 8-7

GRAMBLING, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University ended a 9-game losing streak and defeated rival Grambling State University, 8-7.

The Jaguars entered the 5th inning down 6-0 at a hostile Wilbert Ellis Field. Then the Tigers committed their first mistakes of the game, throwing two wild pitches that put Southern on the board.

The errors returned in the 9th when SU trailed 6-5. Another GSU wild pitch scored Jaylen Armstrong to tie the game.

It was not until the 12th inning when the Jags took their first lead of the game with Quincy Smith II hitting a double that scored Hunter Tabb. Ryan Ollison brought Smith home with an RBI single to make it 8-6 and the Jags held on to win 8-7.
