Southern University Athletics visits injured Grambling Tiger on his birthday

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Southern University Athletics Department along with some football players, student government members, and personnel, went to visit a Grambling Tiger football player in the hospital for his birthday as a mission to promote unity amongst HBCUs.

During the football game against the Louisiana State Tigers, Grambling State linebacker, Jaquavis Richmond was injured. Richmond was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, where he had surgery performed on his head and neck area.

Richmond underwent surgery on Sunday, Sept. 11, and is currently recovering.

The Grambling Tigers, the LSU Tigers, and the Southern Jaguars wished Richmond a happy birthday on social media.

The Grambling State Tigers are expected to play the Texas Southern Tigers at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 in Grambling, Louisiana.
