LSU star Angel Reese wins Sportswoman of the Year at BET awards

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Angel Reese is a champion and an award winner!

LSU forward Angel Reese won the Sportswoman of the Year at the BET Awards on Sunday, June 25. Reese and another LSU star, former guard Alexis Morris, were both nominated for the award.

Reese tweeted she was sad she couldn’t be there but she really appreciated the win. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took home Sportsman of the Year.

LSU announced that Reese was nominated for the award on June 9. Reese helped the Lady Tigers win the NCAA basketball championship against the Iowa Hawkeyes, 102-85 on April 2.

The BET Awards recognizes and showcases Black excellence to honor Black music, creativity and sportsmanship, according to BET.

Reese has also been nominated for an ESPY award. The awards ceremony will air live on ABC at 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday, July 12. Fans can vote on ESPN’s website. Click here to submit a vote.
