10-year-old faces criminal charge after bringing toy gun to school

EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A juvenile was given a summons for having an unloaded BB gun on a school campus Thursday afternoon.

According to the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, a parent was coming to pick up a child from Jackson Elementary School with a 10-year-old in the car. Upon arrival, the 10-year-old got out of the vehicle with an unloaded BB gun, causing a disturbance. The father and older sibling subdued the 10-year-old.

The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office school resource officer arrived at the parking lot and took the toy gun. The BB gun reportedly was never pointed at any person.

The juvenile was issued a summons for disturbing the peace and released to their father.
