BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Get your coins ready. Thursday is the third annual “225Gives” day.
It’s a 24-hour online fundraising event to help nonprofit organizations in the Metro Baton Rouge area.
This initiative started in 2020 because of the pandemic. The purpose is to give back to nonprofit organizations that contribute to the community in a big way through food insecurity, education, and housing to name a few.
The Capital Area United Way (CAUW) said about 211 groups are participating this year.
“It’s been great to see how hard the non-profits have been working. We have been giving training and different engagement opportunities to really help them with their fundraising strategy. And so, to see all of their hard work coming to an end and their success, it’s been great,” said Melanie Henderson, CAUW Director of Community Engagement.
In the previous years, “225 Gives” raised over five million dollars for local nonprofits.
Everything is done online. To give, visit the “225 Gives” donation portal. You can select which organization you’d like to help.
