BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A bicycle and pedestrian path in Baton Rouge will expand after Metro Council approved a plan Wednesday that would extend it from near L’Auberge Casino to the Iberville Parish line.
The expansion project would extend the route by 2.27 miles and add a 10-foot-wide path. A Metro Council memorandum said the estimated cost of construction is $1,069,824. If approved, federal funding would cover $855,860 and local funding would cover $213,964.
East Baton Rouge Parish would be responsible for its design, construction and inspection services.
The Baton Rouge section of the path is part of the 3,000-mile trail along the Mississippi River stretching from Lake Itasca, Minnesota to Venice, Louisiana.
