BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge hockey team is looking for a name. A team name submission contest has opened for fans to submit their most creative team name ideas.

The contest ends on April 30 at midnight, according to a news release. Name submissions can be made through the Raising Cane’s River Center website. There is no limit to the number of submissions per person and submissions will be considered by the team’s staff, officials said.

The winner will receive a pair of season tickets for the inaugural season and a team jersey with the winning name on the back. If multiple people submit the selected name, a winner will be randomly picked.

“We are thrilled to engage with our fans and allow them the opportunity to be a part of our team from the very beginning,” said General Manager of the Raising Cane’s River Center Wayne Hodes. “We are looking for a name that represents our city, our team, and our fans. We can’t wait to see the creative and unique ideas that our fans come up with.”

“We are excited to bring hockey to Baton Rouge, and we believe that the community will embrace our team with open arms,” said Barry Soskin, the team owner. “We can’t wait to see what our fans come up with, and we look forward to announcing our new team name in the coming weeks.”

Officials said a team name will be selected and announced in late May.
