Bicyclist injured after car crash in West Baton Rouge Parish

PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) — A bicyclist was injured after a crash on Highway 76 in West Baton Rouge Parish Thursday.

According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers were called to a crash at Court Street near Turner Drive in Port Allen around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13.

The initial investigation shows a 2004 Honda Pilot was traveling west on Highway 76 at the same time a bicyclist was traveling east in the westbound lane. For reasons still unknown, the Honda hit the front of the bicycle.

Troopers said that at the time of the crash, the bicyclist was wearing dark clothing and did not have lights on their bicycle. The bicyclist was also not wearing a helmet, according to the state police. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Honda was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

This crash remains under investigation.
