Body of missing West Feliciana boater found in Mississippi River

WEST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – The body of the missing boater in West Feliciana Parish has been recovered.

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the body of Rachel Hann, 38, was recovered from the Mississippi River around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 1. Hann had been missing after being involved in a boating accident in the river at about 9 p.m. on May 30.

LDWF said Hann was the passenger in a 16-foot aluminum vessel. The boat hit a moving barge in the Mississippi River near St. Francisville and she was ejected into the water.

Hann’s body has been turned over to the West Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office.

Authorities identified the boat operator as Anthony Bain, 37, who is also a resident of St. Francisville. Bain was injured in the boat crash and is currently hospitalized.

Neither occupant in the vessel was wearing a personal flotation device, LDWF said.
