BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Summer of Hope is a series of community events aiming to get residents involved to promote peace while addressing areas with high rates of violent crime.
The mayor’s office said the 15-week initiative operates under Safe Hopeful Healthy BR, a public safety program.
“With the theme of Peace Over Everything, this year’s Summer of Hope initiative is dedicated to bringing hope and vital resources directly to neighborhoods, individuals, and families who have been affected by violence,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.
Here are upcoming Summer of Hope events.
Expungement Initiative Event
This event is happening on Friday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southern University Law Center located at 2 Roosevelt Steptoe Drive.
Inaugural Safe Summer Kick-Off Block Party
This event is happening on Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BRidge Agency located at 3955 Plank Road.
Levitt Amp Baton Rouge Music Series
This Scotland Saturdays event is happening on Saturday, June 3 starting at 5 p.m. in Scotlandville Plaza located at 8551 Scotland Avenue.
2nd Annual Sole Lab Sundays Hip Hop and Arts Festival
This event is happening on Sunday, June 4 at 3 p.m. at the EBR Parish Main Library located at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard.
Neighborhood Arts Project
This event is happening on Tuesday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge headquarters located at 2050 N. Foster Drive.
Neighborhood Art Project
This event hosted by LSU Museum of Art is happening on Wednesday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at New Hope Baptist Church located at 5856 Greenwell Springs Road.
Community Public Safety Roundtable
This event hosted by the Baton Rouge Community Street Team is happening on Thursday, June 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the MLK Community Center located at 4000 Gus Young Avenue.
Neighborhood Arts Project
This event hosted by the LSU Museum of Art is happening on Thursday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hartley/Vey Park located at 1702 Gardere Lane.

The 6th Annual Pedaling for Peace
This event is happening on Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m. The route begins at the Shoppers’ Value located at 5355 Government Street and ends at MLK Center.
