DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) – Two organizations are taking great strides to ensure that families in Livingston Parish have the food they need.

Sam’s Club Baton Rouge Market 17 and Mighty Moms used Tuesday, April 25 to team up for a day of service.

The two organizations set up camp at the Denham Springs Sam’s Club on Bass Pro Boulevard and gave away 250 free bags of non-perishable food to local families.

But the giving didn’t end there.

Sam’s also presented Mighty Moms with a $21,000 grant to support their efforts in feeding low-income families across Livingston Parish.

Mighty Moms Executive Director Dawn Birdsong said, “Everything we Mighty Moms do is a team effort in fighting childhood hunger. We are grateful for the support of Sam’s Club whose partnership will help us nourish the minds and tummies of 250 Livingston Parish families.”

Tuesday’s giveaway was a family-friendly event that also featured face painting, balloon animals and snowballs.
