BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Disney+ has closed the door on a second season of National Treasure: Edge of History. According to a report from Variety, the series which prominently featured Baton Rouge has been canceled by the entertainment company.
This series was based off of the “National Treasure” movies and filmed in Baton Rouge over many months. A local church was featured in one of the ten episodes during season one.
Katie Pryor, executive director of the Baton Rouge Film Commission, said, “Of course we are disappointed there will not be a second season, but we are forever grateful that our beautiful city will always be part of this notable franchise.”
According to Pryor, $56,117,298 was spent in Louisiana during the production and $17,010,739 of that went to local payroll. When asked about the entire experience of having Disney film a series like this in Baton Rouge, Pryor said, “It was incredible, Disney runs a super professional production and they take care of the communities in which they film. One example of how they did this was by showcasing our community and city features. We would welcome them back anytime.”
