BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In honor of Women’s History Month, East Baton Rouge Parish Schools is collecting hygiene products through its “Supporting Our Girls” campaign.

The goal is to ensure that young girls in elementary, middle and high school can access their daily necessities. The school district is asking the community to help provide feminine hygiene products.

According to Taniesha Flowers with EBR Schools, “period poverty” is a common issue.

“Statistics show when students have their needs met, they actually perform better in the classroom,” said Flowers.

Pads, tampons, soap, deodorant and anything else related to self-care and hygiene will be collected. If you would like to donate, please drop off donations at the following locations:

  • Central Office: 1050 S. Foster Drive
  • IRC Building: 1022 S. Foster Drive

The campaign runs through the month of March. To learn more, visit the EBR Schools website.
