BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Most celebrate Mother’s Day in a big way, but sometimes Father’s Day gets left behind. One organization is making sure this year is different for fathers.
Father’s Day is this Sunday, so Father’s on a Mission better known as F.O.A.M has planned a cool event for children to bond with their dads. “This is a time when we get together every year to celebrate Father’s Day weekend. This year we’re doing cooking with dads, where we’re going to have the American Heart Association to come in and show our dads and kids how to make simple meals. So we’re going to have a nice time not only learn how to cook that meal, but also about eating healthy and healthy eating tips,” explained Levar Robinson, Executive director of F.O.A.M.
“Cooking with Dads” is free to the public for ages 5 through 18 but sign-up is required. The event allows dads to bond with their children as well as learn how to make simple meals like brown rice and Hawaiian chicken kebabs. It is set to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17th at 1120 Government Street. You can register for the event here.
